Women I admire (part one)

Candid confession: it is so hard for me to answer who my role model is. I have many, quite frankly. This blog post is for just some of the women I look up to as lifestyle and career inspirations. This blog contains affiliate links, for more: disclosures.

Jaqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis |

There is so much in a name, and Jaqueline’s tells of tragedy, style, and poise. I recently went down a “rabbit hole” on the former first lady and philanthropist’s life. I think about all the trauma, strength, and composure it must have taken her to be a first lady so young, lose her husband tragically, raise her two children Caroline and John Jr. and still hold optimism for the future. It’s no secret “Jackie-O” was an icon in fashion. Back in April I went to the JFK Presidential Library and Museum and realized I had never heard Mr. or Mrs. Kennedy speak much, and let me tell you they both had the most intriguing accents I’ve ever heard. I loved the tour of the White House that won Jaqueline an Emmy, and I’ve admired her all the more. The following books are all written by Jacqueline herself:

The Last Will and Testament of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

One Special Summer

Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy

The following are two Historical Dramas I enjoyed:

And They Called It Camelot: A Novel of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis

Jackie and Maria: A Novel of Jackie Kennedy & Maria Callas

Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex | Like Jaqueline, saying I am inspired by Meghan is a no brainer. The Duchess of Sussex is fashionable, philanthropic, and seems to glow everywhere she goes. As a former actor she still worked with organizations like the United Nations and has since she was little advocated for women to have equal access and rights. I have no shame I am always looking to see what shoes, skincare, and self-care Meghan has recommended because I know her choices are quality and chic. Despite often misplaced criticism Meghan has held her head and both invisible and visible crowns high.

Brittany Murphy | My heart aches when I think of Brittany. She was so beautifully talented. Her eyes always gave the story depth, and drama. Brittany inspires me to be my best. I hope I can amount to even an ounce of dedication and expression she delivered every time. As an actor, while her discography is small… it is so bountifully diverse. Brittany in interviews was always gracious and kind. Many who knew her said she was always attentive and gentle. I’d love to leave a legacy where others know of me fondly in all I did. I wish we could have seen her in more, and I would like to think the media would’ve been a bit more graceful and kind to her now as well.

As the title states, we’ll revisit this topic for a part 2. Do you have an inspiration (or 2?) Let me know!

xoxo

VM.
